We’d like to inform you, that as of 01/01/2021, we are introducing a change in the rules for storing personal data of participants registered for events in Konfeo. The change is aimed at adjusting the system to the provisions of the GDPR, art. 5, section 1, point e: Personal data shall be… kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed.
In other words, if the purpose for which the personal data has been collected has been achieved, the data must be deleted. When using Konfeo, you are the administrator of personal data and you should ensure proper handling of it. Nevertheless, we are responsible for the processing and security of the data in the system.
In this context, at the beginning of 2021, we are introducing a mechanism that will remove participant registrations and invoices from events that ended 6 months earlier. Where did this period come from? Our analyzes show that such a period of time is completely sufficient to process the registration of participants after the end of the event.
What does this mean in practice for you? After 01/01/2021, all registration data for events completed before 01/07/2020 will be irretrievably deleted. If you want to process this data outside our system, download it by the end of this year. The events themselves and their settings will not be deleted. After that, the mechanism will continuously and automatically delete data in events that ended 6 months earlier.
Thus, we introduce a mechanism that protects you if you forget to delete this data. Thanks to this, we will implement the provisions of the GDPR together in practice and better protect personal data.
In order to implement the described process, we will introduce appropriate changes to our Terms of Service and the DPA. The amendment to the regulations comes into force on 01/01/2021. Until then, you have time to decide whether to continue or stop using our services.
